This weekend, Team NSK heads to Scotland for the Scottish Open – 4 Nations. For some, it will be their first experience of competing at this level. For others, it’s another chapter in a long competitive journey.
But regardless of where each person is on that journey, there’s one thing that brings everyone together:

From first tournaments to seasoned competitors
Every competitor has their own story.
For some, this weekend brings the excitement — and nerves — of their first tournament. Everything is new: the atmosphere, the waiting around, hearing your name called and finally stepping onto the mat.
For our more experienced competitors, those feelings are familiar. They’ve been through the wins, the losses, the tough fights and the long competition days. They know what it takes to put yourself out there and keep coming back for more.
But experience doesn’t make anyone immune to nerves. It simply teaches you how to trust your training and turn those nerves into something useful.
And behind every competitor is a team that has helped them get there.
It’s what happens outside the ring that matters too ❤️
Competition weekends are about so much more than what happens when the gloves go on.
It’s sharing an Airbnb, staying up talking rubbish after a long day and making memories that have nothing to do with fighting.
It’s checking that everyone has eaten, making sure someone hasn’t forgotten their kit and helping calm the nerves before a fight.
It’s screaming from the sidelines when your teammate is competing.
It’s celebrating their win as loudly as you would your own.
And when the fighting is finished, it’s sitting down together for that team meal, swapping stories from the day, laughing about the moments nobody else would understand and enjoying being together.
Those are the moments that make a competition weekend special.
And the team doesn’t stop at the gym doors 🐍❤️
While part of Team NSK will be making the journey to Scotland, the rest of the gym will be there in their own way.
Our Cobras have been colouring pictures and sending good luck messages to the competitors.
Our younger members are watching the adults compete, looking at the medals and seeing what might be possible for them one day.
Because that’s how a team grows.
Today’s first-time competitor might become tomorrow’s seasoned fighter.
Today’s Cobra might be the one standing on the podium a few years from now.
And the people who are competing this weekend have a responsibility too — to show the next generation that they can do it as well.
That connection between generations is something we’re incredibly proud of at NSK.
Nobody fights alone 🥊
When one of our competitors steps onto the mat, they might be the only person physically competing, but they don’t stand there alone.
They have their coach.
Their teammates.
Their families.
And an entire gym behind them.
Whether they come away with a medal, a win, a loss or simply the experience of having stepped up and given it everything, they’ll have people waiting for them afterwards.
Because at NSK, success isn’t only measured in medals.
Sometimes success is having the courage to compete for the first time.
Sometimes it’s coming back after a tough loss.
Sometimes it’s simply getting through the nerves and doing the thing you were scared to do.
And every single one of those things is worth celebrating.

So as we head towards this weekend, we’re taking more than just gloves, kit and competition gear with us.
We’re taking the memories we’ve already made, the support of the people back home and the excitement of what’s still to come.
From first tournaments to seasoned competitors, from the people travelling to Scotland to the Cobras cheering from the gym, we’re all part of the same journey.
That’s what makes Team NSK special.
We train together.
We compete together.
We celebrate together.
And when things don’t go to plan, we pick each other back up.
Because we’re not just a group of fighters.
